This one-year, UC 'a-g'-approved course introduces students to visual storytelling and animation. If you like to draw, this course is for you!
Students upload projects to the ACME Animation website and interact with peers in other schools, college animation students and professors, and even industry pros from studios such as Pixar, Disney, Warner Bros, Sony ImageWorks, and DreamWorks.
Every other week, students can get one-on-one, live feedback on their work during a teleconference with pros from various sites in Los Angeles.
A unique benefit of this course is that it allows Capo students to get personalized mentoring on how to enter top college programs and animation-related careers. This instruction comes directly from the colleges and current pros. No more guessing about portfolios!
Former students of this course have been accepted in art/animation programs at the following colleges: CalARTS, Cal State Fullerton, Laguna College of Art and Design, Santa Ana College, Chapman University, Academy of Art University, Brigham Young University, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and the Art Institute of California.
A grade of B or better will earn you college credit at Saddleback College and Santa Ana College.
A second year animation course is ready to go, but unfortunately on hold and not yet scheduled. Interested students and their parents should contact the Capistrano-Laguna Beach ROP administration and request that this course be made available. It would probably run concurrent with the Year 1 course. The phone number for the ROP office is: (949) 496-3118.
