BACKGROUND

Founded in 1995, the Capistrano Valley High School Academy of Technology, Math, and Science is a challenging program intended to better serve and promote students who have demonstrated exceptional ability, interest, and/or aptitude in the areas of mathematics, science, or technology.

Students from the Academy have attended such institutions as MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Rice, Stanford, the Naval Academy, Columbia, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCI, UCSD, Boston University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, and the list goes on. Because of the Academy’s outstanding success in preparing students for admission to the country’s best colleges and universities, Capistrano Valley High School is now sanctioned to offer an International Baccalaureate Diploma program. All incoming Freshmen interested in pursuing an IB Diploma are urged to enroll in ATMS although it is not required. The Academy’s curriculum at the Freshman and Sophomore level provides the “pre-IB” support for this internationally recognized program of superior scholarship.
